I HAVE TO SAY

(P. Assirati)

Is a simple blues, written in one hit on a doorstep when I had my timings and place all wrong. I got my guitar and notebook out there and then and wrote it.

They say a man ain’t supposed to cry
But I have to say I cried for you last night
When I called and you weren’t home
They say a man ain’t supposed to care
Ain’t supposed to feel the way I feel about you, but I do
They say a man ain’t supposed to find any peace of mind
If you want to find something true in this world like I found you

They say a man ain’t supposed to write
All the things that might show his heart out to the world
See the pieces all unfurled
They say a man ain’t supposed to know any place to go
Where he can feel at peace and give his soul some release
