BRING IT BACK

(N. Assirati, P Assirati, R Gueye)

I had this chord sequence in C which I used as a practice thing for my scales and I thought up a few riffy bits which the others developed. Nick was talking about a radio programme he heard which compared the West to a comfortable fat man asleep in his chair while the storm raged outside and said it was a good image for a song.   I'm not a in a place where I'm writing political stuff at the moment so I turned the image into something more akin to a W B Yeats poem I liked. I think it's a very hopeful and romantic way to close the album.

When you're full in your chair
And the world's so far away it's like it's not really there
And you wake to find that you're out of time
Well, you can bring it back to me

When I'm just a picture in your memory
Or a line in a book that you never read or wrote
'Cos you never had time
Then you can bring it back to me

All of the time
I've been wasting away so fine
All of the time
I've been waiting for you to decide
You're gonna bring it back to me

I'll be here, I'll be waiting
I'll be dreaming of what we could have been
I'll be easy for you to find
So you can bring it back to me
