PASS THIS WAY

(P. Assirati)

This just came to me in a moment. It was one of those magical 25 minutes when the muse just takes over. Lots of major 7th and minor 7 th chords. Written about a girl I know in Wiltshire with blonde hair and blue eyes. The end is like 'After Time' on the 1 st CD with ad libs, stolen tributes from here and there. I always get asked what the 'crash the car' lyric in the middle means -   it's simple, things don't get much better than this and it's all downhill from here, so quit while you're ahead.

I'd do anything to please her, all she really has to do is smile
I could lay all day beside her if she'd only come within a mile
I've got no place to run to, I've got nothing left to gain
I know she won't pass this way again

So I went to see a healer to try and to get healed
To look inside my shattered heart and tell me how to feel
She said "You got no place to run to, you've got nothing left to gain
You know she won't pass this way again"

She says "It's got it's own timing and it has it's own way
So if you're gonna crash the car, you'd better crash it today"
You know she won't pass this way again

I think I'm gonna go see her, I'm gonna tell her how I feel
I'm gonna tell her this time that I know that it's for real
I'm gonna tell her I got no place to run to, I've got nothing left to gain
I know she won't pass this way again
